La rinomata azienda finlandese Marimekko rinnova la sua presenza a Milano durante la Milan Design Week (12-17 aprile 2016) presentando tutte le novità della collezione autunno/inverno 2016 nella “Marimekko Home” (Casa Marimekko) ricreata in un appartamento in via Palermo 8 nel cuore del quartiere Brera.
La “Marimekko Home” è stata realizzata, in collaborazione con l’azienda finlandese Artek, per presentare agli ospiti della “Milan Design Week” la filosofia e il concept del brand finlandese che promuove dal 1951 non solo un design originale e di tendenza ma anche funzionale ed ecologico.
“When Marimekko was founded in 1951, it was one of the first lifestyle brands in the world. Marimekko design has always aimed at bringing joy to everyday moments through bold prints and colours. We want to empower people in their daily lives and encourage them to turn their homes into a source of inspiration and means of self-expression. What better way to do that than to bring our vision of the Nordic home to Milan Design Week. As a Swede living in Finland, I have learned that functionalism and inclusivity are inherent in Finnish design thinking, and good and qualitative design is a core part of Finnish homes. Marimekko and Artek have both had a great significance in the formation of the Finnish design aesthetic, and therefore we are extremely excited to work together with Artek on this project” afferma Marimekko’s Creative Director Anna Teurnell.
La “Marimekko Home” ospita le nuove collezioni autunno/inverno 2016 ispirate al rapporto tra fantasia e realtà e a come il loro dialogo può interagire con l’approccio funzionale del design Marimekko. Nella “Marimekko Home” i visitatori della Milan Design Week potranno ammirare l’interessante gioco e interazione tra le creazioni dei celebri designer del passato come: Oiva Toikka, Maija Isola e Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi e quelle dei più recenti designer Aino-Maija Metsola, Maija Louekari e Sanna Annukka.
